Which Autoresponder — Do I Really Need One?
Which autoresponder and do I need one?
Which autoresponder and do you really need one starts with knowing what an autoresponder is and what it can do for you.
An autoresponder is basically a program (software) that allows you to write emails that will be sent out in a specific order and at a specified time or date.
Autoresponders can be used in many different ways
for many different reasons. The primary use of an autoresponder is to collect the names and email addresses of people who are interested in what’s on your website, what you’re selling, or most importantly, what you’re giving away.
When people decide to give you their name and email address, it’s called opting in. That means they have given you permission to send them email messages. This is important because of the Can-Spam Act (https://www.fcc.gov/general/can-spam) If you knowingly send email or text messages to people who have not agreed (opted in) to receive your messages, you can be in violation of the law (and this law is global) and could be punished.
In addition, autoresponders can be used to create a newsletter (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/newsletter) that is sent to your subscribers at an interval that you decide. It depends on how much content you create and how often you want to send it to your list of subscribers.
Furthermore, an autoresponder can be used to send out broadcast email messages to your entire list of subscribers. This is usually done to promote a very special and limited offer that you or a person you know well is promoting. You can set this and any other email message to go out whenever you want.
All of the above is why you need an autoresponder.
Now – Which Autoresponder do I need?
Autoresponders are essential for any online business, therefore it very important to understand what’s available. This is a question you will have to try to answer yourself, as it depends upon several factors. How much do you want to pay each month? Is it difficult to use?deliverability rate, number of subscribers, support, etc. I will try to make your decision a bit easier by providing you with some useful information about some of the more popular autoresponders available. I will reveal my personal favorite as we go along.
This is a pretty good place to start when trying to figure out which autoresponder you need. You can sign up for free and have 2000 subscribers and send 12,000 emails per month (you don’t even need a credit card to get started). Also, as your business grows, you can upgrade to paid account depending on your needs. They claim to have a drag and drop designer, however, when I used it a few years ago, I was not at all impressed with it. They do offer a lot of paid extras if you need them, but expect to pay anywhere from $20. a month to as much as over $400. a month.
GetResponse is a very popular autoresponder and is used by many professional Internet and affiliate marketers. When considering which autoresponder to use, they offer a free 30-day trial (no credit card required) and several different pricing options with various features ranging from $15. per month all the way up to a whopping $900. per month (allows over 100,000 subscribers and tons of features).
Their most popular package appears to the Pro package for $49. per month and allows a list of 5000 subscribers. It allows up to 3 users and includes Email marketing, autoresponder 2.0, the ability to create landing pages (pro), and you can host up to 100 webinars.
Infusionsoft:
Which autoresponder do the pros use? Infusionsoft is probably top of their list. This autoresponder is geared towards marketers who have a list of at least 50,000 subscribers. It is not at all intended for newbies or intermediate marketers. The least expensive plan they have is $199. a month and they go up to $599. a month as of December 16, 2015.
I don’t claim to be an expert, however, this is a great program that offers a lot of professional services for those who can afford it and and who understand the importance of which autoresponder you should be using.
Aweber:
Which autoresponder is the best of the best in my opinion? Aweber, one of the first and most respected autoresponders in the world. While they started off as a small company, they are now well known all over the world. They have continued to upgrade their program to keep up with the needs of their users.
They too offer a 30-day free trial and their packages range from $19. a month for up to 500 subscribers to $149. a month for up to 25,000 subscribers.
This is by far one of the easiest autoresponders I’ve used. It offers a lot of internal support along with a ton of individual tips and tricks via Google and You Tube. It’s also quite easy to customize your Opt-in form like I did on T. Dean Snyder. com.
